Marni Goes Elementary

The setting for Marni’s FW18 women’s collection was perhaps a call to action on the wastefulness that typifies our generation, and maybe even the wastefulness of the fashion industry as a whole. Francesco Risso, the house’s creative director, had his guests sit on anything from foam to sandbags. He wanted to bring back to their elements and perhaps sought a certain harmony.

The collection itself though, featured a lot of signatures that we have come to expect from Risso, not that that’s a bad thing. Take for example the patchwork dresses, anoraks and heavy layering throughout. The elementary aspect then, perhaps came down to the “simple” construction of each of the pieces.

We have to add that the accessories in the collection were AMAZING! The hoop earrings, oversized belts and chokers were simply to die for.
