Only three years after the debut womenswear collection, ALYX studios has launched a menswear line. Just like the womenswear collection, the menswear line was inspired by founder and designer Matthew Williams’ time spent in Berlin. This pretty much entails having the city’s underground bondage culture, puffer jackets and heavy knits as the central focus on his moodboard. On the new line, entitled E.1999 Eternal, Williams noted: “I have always wanted to design Menswear and it felt like the next step needed for ALYX”. Also take note that the line’s name is a direct reference to the Bone Thugs-N-Harmony album by the same name. As a designer, Williams stands out for his clear rejection of fast fashion and hopes other designers will follow suit. “I think it’s going to become really unpopular for people to be consuming products in the way they have previously, being a mindless consumer isn’t cool, we need a solution, and that’s the future of design,” he was quoted saying.
