The latest instalment of the exodus in the high fashion industry stars Olivier Lapidus who, after only two seasons at Lanvin, will vacate his post with immediate effect. It was just last month that the designer showed his second collection for the house during PFW but now it seems the romance is over following the recent acquisition of Lanvin by Chinese conglomerate Fosun Group.
It make for quite a turbulent period for the house following the departure of long-time creative director Alber Elbaz in 2015. He was shortly succeeded by Bouchra Jarrar, but that too lasted only briefly.
On Lapidus’ exit, interim CEO Joann Cheng commented: “Olivier steered the maison through a transitional period between ownerships. We thank him for that, and wish him every success for his own brand and future endeavours.”
