Pitchfork reports that The xx are curating a series of films for the 2018 Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival. The series is set to be named after the group’s 2017 album “I See You” and is actually influenced by many of the themes expored in their music, including: identity, gender, performance, youth culture and LGBTIQ issues.
The group’s Oliver Sim noted: “These films mean so much to me on a personal level, but at the same time touch on so many of the issues, narratives and passions that are so important to the band as a whole.”
Included in the series are Francis Lee’s God’s Own Country and Christo Geoghegan’s Young and Gay: Jamaica’s Gully Queens, as well as Q&A with many of the film’s directors.
