Kate and Laura Mulleavy, better known as the Rodarte Sisters, are set to debut their movie “Woodshock” at the Venice film festival which will take place between August 30th and September 9th. According to the event’s official schedule, the film will be screened on September 3rd to the press and to the public the following day. The film, featuring Kirsten Dunst in the leading role, was shot in Northern California and is described as “a hypnotic exploration of isolation, paranoia and grief that exists in a dream world all its own”. Dunst plays Theresa, “a haunted young woman spiraling in the wake of profound loss, torn between her fractured emotional state and the reality-altering effects of a potent cannabinoid drug.” With this movie, the designer duo will follow in the footsteps of Tom Ford, who released his “Nocturnal Animals” film at the same festival last year. Back in 2009, he also previewed “A Single Man” at the festival. Woodshock is set for a US release on September 15th. Information on a European release is yet to be provided.
