Yayoi Kusama will soon open her own museum in Tokyo which will display her avant-garde work. The space which is set to house the museum was commissioned by the 87 year old artist back in 2014 and is located in the Shinjuku district. The building is reported to be five storeys high and house an outdoor space in addition to a reading room, archive and giftshop. The first exhibition to be housed in the museum will be “Creation is a Solitary Pursuit, Love is What Brings You Closer to Art” which features paintings of organic forms from the “My Eternal Soul” series. The museum will open October 1st, with tickets priced at around 6. Those go on sale August 28th, so be quick.
