Following on from the Jeanne Lanvin exhibition which finished on August 23 2015, the Musée de la Mode in Paris have announced an upcoming installment entitled La Mode retrouvée, which will unveil the wardrobe of Countess Greffulhe to the public for the first time from November 7 2015 to March 20 2016 at Palais Galliera. Captured by Proust as the Duchess of Guermantes in his renowned work In Search of Lost Time, the lover and patron of music stood out in the highest rungs of Parisian society during the Belle Epoque due to her philanthropic contributions and sponsorship of theatre and ballet performances. But it was her extraordinary fashion that gave her a reputation as the ‘most beautiful woman in Paris’. From brocade prints and spectacular kimonos to velvet coats, 50 couture creations designed by Worth, Lanvin, Fortuny and Babani will be showcased along with accessories, portraits, photographs and films from November onwards at Musée de la Mode.
