Preview Moncler ss2021

For Spring Summer 2021, Moncler has sought to capture the multiplicity of the Moncler woman in a collection that spans time zones and terrains, moods and manifestations – all underpinned by Moncler’s fastidious technological research and freedom of purpose. Now available at Azzurro Due in Amsterdam. A spectrum of innovative techniques, revolutionary textiles and expressive silhouettes set the stage for a lifestyle in flux: the Moncler woman’s eclectic sense of style is the result of living in a state of constant movement. Practicality must be a given, to carry her easily through all her life’s iterations.

It begins, as ever, with the weather. The fresh offshore breeze of spring inspires the Navigating Normandy theme, which blends maritime practicality with croisiére flair in each transitional piece. The core fabric of the range is Moncler’s inimitable longue saison nylon, which is crafted to keep temperature with the vagaries of spring weather. Rendered in a unique lozenge down injection, it’s juxtaposed against wool in the Kurhah semi-formal pea coat, or cotton tweed for the Miram, an ultra-versatile snap button bomber. Flourishes of logo print and perennial Breton knits add true timelessness to a collection made for navigating spring breezes and beyond.

From the fresh winds of Normandy to the turbid traffic of Downtown New York, our protagonist’s story continues, mixing sportswear tropes with uniform materials for a truly urbane attitude in Descend Downtown. City icons such as the parka jacket and the leather biker are given utility precision with sleek fabrics such as bi-stretch gabardine, nappa leather and double wool, all in a crisp palette of navy, olive green and rich cream. Technical design thinking – from the tailored joggers to the boudin knitwear – means office to outdoors is all in a day’s work for the city ingenue.

With the first blush of spring comes optimism and when nature awakens everything takes on a new life. Blossoming Expanse makes abundant use of a new technique of garment-dyed nylon, which creates an unusual glazed finish on fabrics, releasing the colors in high-impact intensity. From a fuchsia down bomber to a fluid parka in blazing indigo, the collection is a pop chromatic clash designed to capture the exuberance of spring and carry through to a summer spent exploring.

Prettiness and precision go hand in hand for the Forbidding Understatement story, designed for that particular state of mind when a woman wants to stand out without shouting. Prints that make a statement and details that beg a closer look combine to create talking-point pieces with long-lasting appeal. The use of fabrics such as taffeta and grosgrain creates an undeniably feminine feel, with pieces such as the Mirac jacket – its pleated flounce belying the hidden down quilting beneath – striking that elusive balance between whimsy and necessity. Lacquered nylon, achieved through painstaking sequences of rolling technique, finds its boldest iteration in the Achird parka, a gathered ruffle of debossed zebra print that provides absolute protection and just the right amount of drama.

Hollywood is a definite mood for the modern global upstart, and the Living Hollywood collection makes it look easy. Highly engineered life wear has become the new normal for the younger generation, who take techniques such as laser cutting, high-frequency seamlessness and water-repellent froissé technique for granted in their everyday wear. This story showcases Moncler’s ease within the realm of athleisure, with highly covetable outerwear such as the high-gloss packable Melucta, or the iridescent Ackubens playing comfortably alongside logo emblazoned cotton sweats and perennial liquorice black leggings.

An almost impossible lightness defines BillowingSpring, which uses extraordinary fabrics such as ripstop nylonléger– crafted to be gossamer fine but super durable – and silken, ultra-compact nylontechniqueto make fluttering pieces that encapsulate a freewheeling spring mood. Cotton poplins are splashed with pop flower prints and echoed across voluminous dresses, featherweight rain macs and wide-cut tailored culottes.

The womenswear collection from Moncler has become increasingly flexible, autonomous and versatile thanks to a clear focus on ready to wear and separates that bring Moncler’s technical innovations to the core of the wardrobe. The underpinnings of the WanderingKensingtoncollection – from tailored shorts in cotton gabardine to crewnecks knitted from finest fourteen-gauge yarn – create multiple opportunities for city styling. The standout print in this story is a fantasy of tropical fronds borrowed straight from a Victorian orangery: it gently compliments the sporty cape silhouettes and feminine ruching that lend the collection’s outerwear its sophisticated flourish.

A change of scene is merely a hop on the Eurostar for our SS21 heroine, whose next stop on the tour is Paris, for RomancingtheBoulevard. Inspired by the romance of the city but galvanised by its fresh and youthful energy, this story masterfully combines a sporty attitude with feminine details: a grosgrain Moncler logo adorns the nylon technique Alfard parka, while the Adhafera Caban jacket comes with delicately flared sleeves. Flashes of molten metal add future focus to a collection that’s ultra-lightweight and entirely water-repellent; essential for maintaining the romance of Paris when it drizzles.

The emphatic final punctuation of the collection comes via a perfectly compact capsule of black essentials in the SeekingKyotorange. Conceptual, practical and directional in equal measure, this brings Moncler’s Matt Black menswear range confidently into the realm of womenswear. The parameters are the same: tech fabrics such as soft shell, ripstop, stretch opaque nylon in transitional down injections, all shaped into sharp sporty shapes that create a graphic new standard for city styling.

Final steps and flourishes are supplied with a combination of bagsandfootwear, with a mix of new silhouettes and revised and rethought carryovers. The mountain inspired sneaker for the city, Leave No Trace returns with a new slimline aesthetic in light ripstop nylon in a silver colorway, while the brand new Lissex and Glissiere sneakers, both unisex, are laid back metropolitan styles for the season. Sandals come in both strap and slip-on options with the Flavia constructed from nylon and ribbon, and the Fantine in black leather. Debut bags offer both comfort and protection in the form of the Mini Seashell with a Moncler boudin finish, the quilted bucket
