The Barbican has announced the sale of a range of Basquiat skate decks, which were created by the Skateroom, accompanying their upcoming “Basquiat: Boom For Real” exhibition which is set to open September 21st. The boards will be silkscreened by hand with various works of the artist from the early 80’s, including “In Italian” and “Robot”. This marks the second time that the Skateroom has transformed Basquiat’s work into skate decks, the first being back in 2014. back then the pieces were featured at the MoMa and Colette. This time will feature their first sale and exhibition on UK soil. The upcoming exhibition will be the first large-scale exhibition in the UK of Basquiat’s work, and will feature over 100 pieces. Ow, and by the way, the decks will go for £160, which is not a lot for a piece of modern history.
