MSGM’s Massimo Giorgetti has clearly been spending lots of time with toddlers or studying groundbreaking painters like Willem de Kooning as his latest collection was built around the broadest possible colour spectrum. This, of course, coincided perfectly with Milan’s hot, almost summer, days. Giorgetti took these rich colours and added them to silhouettes which could in no way be considered novel. Oversized varsity sweats, cropped versions of the varsity sweats, sleeves trench coats all reminded us of pieces that had been pioneered by Raf Simons in the past. Some looks were even topped of (literally) with rain hats. Yes, the very same ones that Simons used in his SS18 menswear collection only a few months ago. That being said, we must applaud the audacity that he showed with the bold use of colour on certain pieces. Tartans were presented in playful oranges and pinks, while raincoats were presented in blood-red and electric blue. Is this collection truly worth the hype? The judges are still out on that one. But have a look for yourself here. Image via Vogue.
