She’s perhaps one o the industry’s longest reigning queens and she’s finally getting the recognition she deserves for it: Naomi Campbell will be awarded the CFDA Fashion Icon Award this year. We have to say that they’re a bit late on this one, as previous nominees have included those that haven’t even been around as long as she has; think Pharrell, Rihanna and Lady Gaga.
On the award, Campbell noted: “It is truly an honour to be recognised by the CFDA with this year’s Fashion Icon Award. Being from London, my personal style has always been tremendously influenced by both the dynamic, ever-changing nature of street culture and the music scene. I grew up in this industry and I’m forever grateful to the iconic American fashion designers who have supported me and celebrated me throughout my career.”
The official ceremony is slated for June 4th at the Brooklyn Museum.
