Let’s start off with the basics: for those that don’t know by now, VFILES is an online platform (with its HQ in NYC) that is geared towards giving up-and-coming designers, photographers, stylists and such a means to communicate, collaborate and gain exposure for their work. In addition, the brand hosts fashion shows every season where those handpicked by the platform’s jury get the opportunity to present their collections under the mentorship of celebrities, including Young Thug and Naomi Campbell.
Considering the platform’s roots and preference for doing things against the grain, the fashion shows are generally characterised by a bit of mayhem and oddities here and there (see the example below). So much so, that Vogue even suggested at one point they ditch the classic fashion show setup and just throw a party. And so they did.
The event was called “Be Heard. Make Noise” and was held in New York’s Terminal 5 venue. It saw a gaggle of celebrities that included Joey Bada$$ and Sasha Lane. Interesting aspect about the event was that they presented the “backstage” bit of “normal” shows onstage, which made for a unique experience. In addition, they also had Young Thug style his longtime girlfriend Jerrika Karlae live on stage.
